John Habermeier – Owner
To date, John has overseen the development and completion of over 3000 remodeling projects. As an eighth generation master builder, John’s passion in construction started at a young age. To further his education John served a formal 6-year apprenticeship and extended his education with 3 years at UBC School of Construction Management.
Throughout his career John has built his credentials and has been honored through industry publications and has received countless awards. He works with the development of all Synergy Builders’ projects. John has a keen eye for detail and builds strong lasting relationships with clients. His relaxed, yet dedicated demeanor enables him to overcome any obstacle in the development of your dream project.

Steve Taylor, CGR - Owner
Serving his apprenticeship with a local custom homebuilder, the goal of business ownership was always in the back of Steve’s mind. From there, Steve rounded out his skills by joining a very large, fast paced carpenter-contractor firm. It was here that Steve met John and they both realized their ideas, dreams, and goals were headed in the same direction. After years of working together, Steve and John launched Synergy Builders, Inc. in 2002.
Steve earned his CGR (Certified Graduate Remodeler) Designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Today Steve's role in the home remodeling company is to oversee daily field production, employee development, and oversee finances. Steve has impressed clients for years with his strong work ethic and constant dedication to his work and family.

Brian O'Neil - Project Developer
At a young age Brian started working for a North Shore remodeling company that specialized in large home additions. There he started as a laborer and quickly learned the construction process from the ground up. Through the years, Brian learned rough framing, trim carpentry, roofing, siding, tile, minor electrical and plumbing work, and eventually specialized in framing. After Brian finished college at Eastern Illinois University, he started full-time with Synergy Builders as a lead carpenter.
Brian quickly moved up to project manager where he enjoyed managing the production of remodeling projects from start to finish. Brian's current role is project developer where he helps his clients envision the possibilities within their home. Brian is a hardworking, self-motivated, and talented employee. Clients who have gotten to know Brian through projects have commented on his dedication and comedic personality.

Rod Kelly - Project Developer/Architect
As a licensed architect in the State of Illinois since 1992, Rod has had the pleasure of working with wonderful clients on design and construction projects of all types. He feels that the excitement that is built while teaming with customers on the improvement to their homes is unique and special.
A graduate of the University of Illinois School of Architecture, Rod has lived in DuPage County since 1989 and has been personally responsible for hundreds of remodeling projects to homes throughout Chicagoland. He brings a combination of practical knowledge and sensible design to his partnerships with his customers and loves the lifelong relationships formed from successful design solutions. Rod is thrilled to work with such a talented team at Synergy and knows that the creative energy and camaraderie within its walls are the reasons.

Sharon O'Brien - Project Developer
Sharon’s construction experience dates back to 2001 covering all aspects of the industry. She has owned her own general contracting business focusing on residential remodeling throughout Chicagoland. She has also worked as a project manager for a commercial construction company, a kitchen and bath designer for a local firm, and a partner with her family’s land development company conducting daily property management for a 190-unit condo development. She was first introduced to the industry while working summers as a kid in her Dad’s construction company; typing the paychecks with her index finger. She has also conducted the remodeling work on several of her own properties.
Sharon prides herself on being an adaptable team player and displays positive energy with an approachable demeanor. This attitude allows her to be at ease in developing long-lasting client relationships. She believes by creating a seamless process for her clients; their remodeling project can actually be an enjoyable experience. Sharon volunteers with Habitat for Humanity & Make-a-Wish Foundation. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, traveling, sports, music, theatre and cooking for others.

Adam Plank - Production Manager
Adam started his career in construction at a young age when he began framing custom homes during his summers. He continued with remodeling and basement finishing throughout his college years. After college Adam put his Applied Sciences Degree on hold and followed his true love for construction.
To date, Adam has completed hundreds of remodeling projects in the Chicago suburbs as a project manager for Synergy Builders and currently oversees the entire Production department for Synergy. He is very passionate about watching a job take shape and the enjoyment that each client has during the actual construction of the project. Adam takes pride in insuring that Synergy Builders mission statement of "Stress Free Remodeling" is achieved. In his free time he loves to go boating with his wife and three daughters.

Mark Vanjoske - Project Manager
Mark’s passion for remodeling started during high school when he spent summer breaks with his uncle remodeling homes. Mark honed his carpentry skills for the next several years as he framed and trimmed new homes. He renewed his passion for remodeling and found a career at Synergy Builders.
His acute attention to detail and joy in finding solutions that work fit well here as a Project Manager for Synergy. Clients enjoy his calm approach with all aspects of their project. When he is away from work and even at work, he enjoys singing...anything Country

Jason Roy - Project Manager
Jason has many years of experience in all phases of architecture, engineering, and construction. After graduating from The University of Memphis with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Architectural Engineering he moved to Chicago to pursue his career in the construction field. He has been in the construction management field since 2000, working on all types of projects both commercial and residential.
His professional experience includes computer aided design (CAD), code review, construction administration, project management, and hands on carpentry. He is dedicated to making the clients dream become a reality. When he is away from work he enjoys time with his wife and three sons.

Steve Fredenhagen - Project Manager
Steve started his remodeling career in 1995 working on custom homes in Hinsdale, IL and surrounding suburbs. Steve quickly moved up the remodeling ladder and by the age of 21 was running projects. His passion for woodworking, design and finishing details pushed him to open his own remodeling company. There he ran a successful company for 10 years before joining the team and calling Synergy Builders home.
Steve is a master finish carpenter and enjoys turning the customer’s vision into reality. When he is not working with his hands, he is spending time with his wife and children.

Heidi Hauserman - Office Manager
Heidi started with Synergy in June 2004. She was working at a counter top manufacturer when she and John rediscovered each other. They went to high school together and were great friends, but lost touch after college. John said his business was growing, and he needed an Office Manager. Heidi immediately jumped at the opportunity.
Over the years, Heidi has worked with the sales and production teams, and now focuses on the financial aspects of Synergy, working with budgets and reporting, in addition to managing the daily operations. Heidi’s attention-to-detail personality will have you meeting with her at contract to verify all information prior to it going to production. Heidi assists in reviewing all documents and making sure there is a clear understanding of your remodel project…. This gives you a smooth and efficient remodeling experience.

Nicole Ryback - Designer
Nicole realized her passion for design very early in life. By the time she graduated high school, she already had a foundation laid out for the future of her career by working part time as a kitchen and bath designer. Realizing she was already pursuing what she wanted to do, Nicole put college plans on hold to start a family. She is now obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business degree.
Direct interaction with her clients and the ability to make personal connections allows Nicole to design and create beautiful custom spaces perfectly suited for each client. She works closely with clients to put together functional floor plans, while also guiding and assisting them through product selection. Her love and passion for color allows her to effortlessly create spaces that are aesthetically pleasing for every palate.
